How to get here
We encourage all visitors to the Roman Lakes to use sustainable modes of transport wherever possible. The Roman Lakes is surrounded by beautiful countryside and a network of public rights of way that make for brilliant walking, cycling and horse riding and are all stunningly beautiful.
Lakes Road provides the main route through the base of the valley, offering flat riverside access that easily forms circular walks. Lakes Road is predominantly classed as a bridlepath and forms part of the Goyt Way, Pennine Way, E-Route 2 UK Section, Midshires Way, GM Ringway and is close to the Middlewood Way.
There are numerous bus stops and train stations nearby, from which we can then be accessed by foot or bike. Remember to always pack a map, plan your route, wear suitable footwear and clothing, ensure you have water, snacks, a phone and always respect the countryside code: . The Countryside Code
The Roman Lakes has a horse stand, numerous bike stands and disabled parking facilities. We also have a free car park and toilets for visitors when we are open.
